New Guy from Ohio
Hello All,
WCS1200 here! I'm from south west Ohio. 30 years old and been a IH Cub Cadet owner/operator for my entire life. My grandfather bought the first IH Cubby 1200 new in 1973. He later bought a 1861 in 1993. Both of these were given to my dad when he bought my grandfathers house in 1995. I learned to mow grass, pull trailer and bushes with that 1200. My father still uses the 1861 today. In 2008, against my wishes, my dad sold my beloved 1200 to a family friend. After this I soon moved out. My dad felt so bad about selling my grandfathers first garden tractor he bought me a MTD Cubby a 1000 series I believe. I later found that old family friend and offered to by it back for more than what he paid for it. If my memory serves me right he paid $0.02 for it( just to give my dad his 2 cents worth). The offer was declined. After 3 years of pestering I offered my 1000 series. Offer accepted. During the time the friend had it he ran it into The ground, causing me to buy a Tank. So I began to rebuild the 1200. New ISO mounts, carb, PTO switch, entire drive line, and various bearings. Now she runs like new and I have sold my Tank and only use my grandfathers 1200 with over 100,000 hours on it. I will teach my son to mow grass on the 1200 his great grandfather mowed grass with 45 years ago! |

Welcome to OCC. what leads you to believe that tractor has 100,000hrs on it? The tractor is 45yrs old and by my calculations that means it was used 2,222hrs a year or 6hrs a day since it was new.

First off. I am horrible at math. I have absolutely no idea why I said it was over 100,000 hours. When the tractor was purchased my grandfather owned 8 acre of mowed land. I'll say an hour an acre once a week to mow plus tilling a garden, snow plow, leaf sucking, winter wood hauling, summer wood hauling and cutting the neighbors 6 acres from time to time when his wheel horse broke down. So, we will give it a rough 15,000 hours give or take a few. Truths be told the hour meter has spun around so many times I lost count. Sorry about that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
