Hello, I am very happy to be part of this community, I've been looking for somewhere to discuss cub cadets other than facebook and I found this page. Anyway, a bit about me is that I own 4 cub cadets, including a 102, 127, a 1914 super, and a special project, a 582D.
The 582 started out its life as an early 1980s IH 482, with a blown engine. We pulled the transmission, and the blown out engine, dropped a 3 speed cast iron trans in the rear, and a twin cylinder opposed twin Lombardini diesel engine that only got to the states through simplicity. So far it's driveable, with a fully functioning clutch that's been beefed up along with a universal join conversion. I want to pretty much have it as a very beefy plow tractor, and have plans on putting a cat 0 3 point hitch.
Other than that, I will have pictures soon!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
