Default Finally, the Smoker's Club: Cub Cadet 882

Gentlemen, my jacket please! After a long and patient wait, I finally found a solid 882. 770 hrs on the D600, seems to run and cool fine. Has new glow plugs and is pretty dry underneath. Currently NOT charging. PTO works but no headlights or taillights. Missing the deck height adjuster knob, but everything else looks like it's there. Came with the 46GT deck you see plus another yellow 46GT deck for parts. Looks like it had a bagger at one time with the bagger mount plate still on the rear. Also tire chains and plow (I've got waayy too many plows now). Did I mention that I also finally found a halfway decent 450 snowblower? It's all coming together. The diesel will be an all new experience for me and I have a lot to research and learn about to get this Cub up to good running condition. I hate that it's been painted on and is missing it's decals and that Maple Hunter doesn't offer 882 decals, but I'll work through it with this rare Cub. I really have wanted an 882, just because they're rare and compact. I have a nice 782 already, so this will compliment my collection and finally get me into that coveted Smoker's Club! The PO had planned to paint and restore it at some point. It came with all new exhaust still wrapped in the box, everything from the manifold flange to a new chrome tip. Also a NOS replacement dash panel, and new steel footrests.

Guys, I need a push to make this the tractor that gets stripped and treated to a good automotive-grade paint job and maybe some insight on what to do about decals. Will Maple Hunter do special requests?

I've been out of town this week, so more pics and a report after I give it a shakedown in the following week or two...

Congrats Tom! Looks like you got lots of goodies with it too. I have not found the decals either. Have you contacted them about making them? I can take some pics of the hood decals on mine and send to them if that will help. What are your plans with it?

TOM>>>>>

Just got an 882 decal set from Maple Hunter for my tractor, They now have them.
I sent them my fuel bowl filter so they could copy that so it should be included. The only one they did not include were the decals for the rims stating the air pressure.

Contact them and ask for Carrie, she was the one I dealt with.
Took them a while, but they finally delivered.
I'm waiting on their 126 set presently

I'm on it, finsruskw! Thanks for the info and contact. I'll call today. The inability to get decals almost pushed me away from purchasing the tractor. I figured at worst, I could disguise it as a 1512

Oak- I have to figure out what condition the tractor is in overall. I have a mess of accessories that I can put with it if I decide to flip it. I need to see if I can get it to retain a PTO belt for the 46GT deck first. Looks like I need a 954-3042B which should be 5/8 x 104.9 according to the CC site, although I've read that some people have issues running the 46" deck and that the 3042B belt might be a little too long. The other option is to just take everything up to Ray Weaver's and trade it in for a solid 44C deck and mule, which would be my first preference since I have an extra PECO vac setup for A and C decks that came with the 1650 I just overhauled. That said, I effectively have a deck, vac, plow, and 450 snowblower all for this 882. While it would be tempting to sell it all as a package deal, the mere fact that I was able to amass those items just over the last month or so may be a sign to hold onto it all.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
