Identify this engine.
Uncle brought this Case 155 home the other day. I noticed the engine right away is not original, it's a k301, tractor should have a k241. After cleaning the grease and black paint off engine, it turned yellow. Is this a cub cadet engine? I guess the mounting tabs through me off near the base. Looks like they put a Case oil pan on to mount it up. Also has the fuel pump on as the Cases did, but not sure if that can be done on the cub cadet engines as well.

Not a Cub Cadet engine.
Yellow is a coincidence. |

The "B" serial number indicates a 1966 vintage.
Spec 4765B confirms it as a K301 (47) 65B is a variation code. Is there a mark in the window after the "K-301" on the tag before the serial number? Should be one or two letters. |

There is no letters in the window between k301 and the serial number that I can see, looks blank.

May be from an Allis Chalmers. That’s the only other tractor I can think of that would have been yellow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
