Whoever wrote this has a completely different definition of compact tractor than I do. To me, the Yanmar built Deere's of the 80's are what got the compact industry moving. Those are a real tractor, just lacking load and depth on the 3pt and having to deal with a 2 stage clutch. I used to run the heck out of a 670 Deere maintaining grounds for a sub division, including riding trails and power lines.

That Simplicity is just a lawn mower, a nice heavy one, but still a lawn mower---just like my Cadets.

The line about being a "log skidder", well guy must have lived on 3/4 acre in suburbia his whole life.

^^^^ What John said. I've skidded logs, and he ain't skidding "logs" with that machine. I'm a thinking his definition of "logs", ain't the same as mine...

For $2,100 I would expect something without a plywood dash that looks like my two year old cut it out with his plastic hand saw.

That aside, it still isn't a cub.

I don't have a vast background of mechanic work. I'm not an auto tech or tractor tech. But I've rebuilt several machines, and the cubs are by far the most well built that I have seen for a GT. The engineering behind these machines is simple but much stronger than their competitors. I know that is a broad statement, but it is true.

Not sure how a '97 tractor could have started the compact tractor craze but Simplicity tractors in general are well built, I dont see alot of Simplicity branded ones around here but I find alot of Allis Chalmers which is the same thing. I have a 718 in the shop now and Im picking up a 712 this weekend, and my fav mower is a Deutz Allis which is also a Simplicity machine.

$2100 is a bit much for that 75th edition imo but around here it would sell for more than most any comparable tractor, except maybe a Case or JD, a comparable Cub wouldnt bring much more than $1000-$1200cad

My 7116 was better, it had hydraulic lift, 3 point hitch too, and was purdy...
As for that 75th one, there was a guy selling that same machine for 2000.00 in the county seat.
That is the same one, as I remember the serial number, and the wooden dash now i thought about it.

I was just looking at the Simplicity Sovereign earlier mentioned on eBay. Of all the pictures shown, it seems one picture show the crankshaft.....isn't the tractor missing a PTO? Just curious........

Double07...that tractor should be banned!.....it says "semi automatic" on the hood so it must be an assault lawn mower.

Here are 2 of those machines that were at the Evansville show this year. I think they should be called a Pimplicity.
DSCN3783.jpg

One of those was for sale up in South Carolina a year or two ago for $3500, I'm thinking it is still available.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
