Jay, you are welcome. There a lot of good threads here with more detail than mine. I personally used Zippy's in particular for a lot of reference.

Put the transmission back together.

You're really getting it done. You're going to have a great tractor when you're at the end of this process.

Installed a few more parts today. I was able to clean up the rubber boots on both the drag link and the tie rod ends. They had yellow paint on them when I got it but I like this look better. Not sure how they were out of the factory.

They had paint on them from the factory.
All that work and you put the old ones back on?

Thanks, see too. the paint always seems to crack on the rubber and like the contrast. I have done it before on other vintage equipment.

Got a few more pieces back together. I was surprised when I opened the package with the key switch that it does not come with the nut to mount it. Looked at the parts catalog and it clearly shows a a separate part, so my mistake. Expensive little nut $5.50 plus shipping. I went up to the hardware store and got a electric conduit nut for $.39. When I got this there was no switch so I couldn't use the old one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
