Default High Park Fire in Colorado

Hi Everybody,
I'm so glad to have found this forum! Back in the early 80's my father in law gave me a cub cadet 127 with a 44" rotary mower deck, back blade, rototiller, rake, snow plow, 3 plow shears, ripper points, sycle bar mower, wheel weights and tire chains. He gave my son an International Harvester Pedal Tractor too.

Unfortunately on June 10th 2012 the High Park Fire near Fort Collins Colorado burned through my 20 acres, my mountain home, shop/garage and my cub cadet 127 and it's numerous attachments!

I have been trying to no avail to find what the attachments might have been worth hoping insurance will reimburse at least some of my loss. I will greatly appreciate any and all information any of you may have. I have found on ebay the 127 with the 44" deck that I can present to them, but not any of the other attachments.

I have attached some "before the burn" pictures of the remarkable job the cub cadet 127 with back blade did on my mountain road (well okay, I admit it did the finish work while my bulldozer did the main job) and an "after the burn" picture.

It's been an amazing tractor that I hope one day to be able to replace with at least something as versitle as the 127.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Sorry for your losses in the fire. I would think if you could get $1000 in insurance that would be fair but I think they will try to offer less then $400.

Good luck!

Sorry for your losses in the fire.
Can you post some pictures of the attacments? It looks like the rear blade is front of your Cub Cadet. The blade doesn't look that bad. Maybe some of the attacments can be clean and repainted. I would keep the wheel weights. They look ok.

Best thing to do is watch places like e-bay and craiglist to see what items like your 127 are going for. I did that when I was looking for insurrance coverage on a few of my Cub Cadets. I aslo had a gent who sells parts for old Cub Cadets give me an appraisal on my Cub Cadets.

Thanks Guys, I will keep looking on ebay and craigslist, I found a dealer selling the 127 with 44" mower deck for $950. I've attached more pics after the burn of some of the attachments. Still haven't uncovered them all. It's a long slow process of cleaning up. Hadn't even gotten around to thinking about cleaning and repainting what I can. However if insurance pays for it then they own it and take it away...we'll have to see how it plays out. And ol'George thanks, I will contact the sponsers as well and see if they can help. It has been hard for so many here, but we do have alot to be thankful for too. DW

The rear blade and rake are keepers.
Cub Cadet mower deck is history.
Haban mower may be fixable.....depends on if the cutter bar part can be starighten out.

Default Colorado Cubs

There's a guy in Hygiene who seems to have a 782 for sale - he puts it, along with some other equipment, out in front of his house every once in a while. I've never seen it on Craigslist, though. I have a 1250 which I am planning to keep and restore, but I could probably be convinced to sell it if you are in need (or when you are back on top of things). The fires here in Lyons have kept us very busy so far this summer. Let me know if there is anything wrt to your Cub equipment with which I can help. You'r the only other person from CCC that I know of in Colorado.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
