Default Hi all,,, ih question

HI Everyone:

Can anyone please tell me why this Carb is so expensive for my 123? The throttle linkage is shot and the Carb is just a mess. Upon pricing what little there is of these Carter Carbs, they are about $200.00. I don't understand my 124 isn't that much. The engine is a
Spec No-----4759B
Serial-------- CO52881
Model-----------K301AS
It has a Carter model N Carb

The only number anyone I have check almost everywhere is: 47-853-21S. Apparently the "21-S" is my problem. A rare one. Can anyone help?

JOHN

Sorry, I don't know why they are so expensive, probably because few people are buying carbs for 50 year old tractors!!

P.S. easy with the caps!! few people will respond to all caps posts.

John,

I'm having the same problem with a carb from a K241 that I'm rebuilding for someone. The carb I'm trying to rebuild needs a throttle shaft. The throttle shaft is NLA. Plans are to modify a newer shaft.

You can replace the Carter carb with a Kohler carb. Make sure it's a #26 carb. It is a direct bolt on....may have to adjust the linkage. I would check with the sponsors at the top of the page. They should have a good or rebuildable carb for your Cub.

Default thanks

thank you for the fast reply, someone had told me that the choke 0n the 21 is different from the 26, in that the choke cable will pull from the top instead of the bottom, making a problem for re-routing on the this, do you think there is any truth to that>? thanks again, john

You won't have a problem if the carb came from a Cub Cadet. You can change the choke shaft if you find the correct shaft. Not certain...I think you can get the correct choke shaft from Kohler.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
