882 got a freshen up
So I picked this 882 up about a month ago. I had no plans of doing much to it besides what it actually needed, well I ended up getting carried away. It started with a busted fan on the driveshaft. Some members suggested I contact Jeff which I did, so now the 882 is fitted with a cv shaft. While I was in there tearing things apart to get the shaft out I went ahead and replaced a lot of other things that needed attention.
To make a longer story short I’ll just leave you with some pics from start to finish. Overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, a little mad at myself for putting one hood decal on crooked but oh well. Still need to work on the deck and mule drive but that will just be some fresh paint, belts and blades. This will probably take over mowing duty so I won’t be clean for very long. |

Clickitandstickit.com. A little pricey but they are damn close to originals. When I opened them up I was very surprised with the quality.

I was thinking about cutting it down a little bit. I don’t mind it but I can already see it getting hung up on trees and stuff. |

Ok guys looking for some help now. Got the deck back on and everything is running and working great except the hydraulics. I can’t get the deck to lower. It wasn’t moving without the deck on but I just figured it needed some weight. Turns out I was wrong.
I did drain the fluid and replace along with new filter but I’ve done that plenty of times before with no issues. I just tried running it in full forward and reverse a few times and held both levers in both directions quite a few times with the dip stick out thinking it might bleed out air. Nothing has worked. Any thoughts or ideas?? Thanks Update*** 30min later I decided to try alternating the the levers at the same time and if I push up to lower and down on the front hydraulic lever the deck will lower but very slow. Raising is normal and comes right up as it should using one lever. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
