ol Geo has a question
I was thinking about Dirt pushers 1712,
and did some looking on the 'net, as curious Geo is like that. Me figgers that 1 yr model (1985) was just a yeller, late mtd built 782 with dual spool hydraulics. like the 784 cub. But tractor data ( about as reliable as the weather forecasters) says you can hang a 60" deck under it! http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-trac...adet-1712.html My research shows 1712's retain the traditional 1" front axles of late quiet lines/82 series, not the later super steer as we call them. Also shows the same frame as 82 series. So no joy of hanging a 60" deck under a short wheelbase spread frame is my thinking. Comments? |

George:
You are spot on. Just shows you that Tractor Data is fairly good source for information, but their information is NOT 100% correct.

I wish you guys would stop thinking about Ditpusher's 1712. At least until I can get a few of my junk mowers scrapped to appease the GF, replace the wheel bearings on my trailer, fix a light, and get a day off to take a road trip...

You sure can, and might just do me a favor if you do! IDK, though, I think I made a good offer...

Being another PA resident who's perfect machine really looks like an 82 series with a remote(note my "just one" thread about a week before), I reached out to Dirtpusher and after a series of PM's and text messages, I believe we worked out a fair deal. Lord willing, if we both happen to be men of our word, we'll both have winter projects that suit our liking.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
