Default Welder?
I am NEW to welding, looking for a welder for under $300! What is the best all around welder for repairing things like TRUNNION REPAIR on tractor or patching a hole in muffler and other small projects?

Just my 2 cents but I'd look on c-list in the tools section. Try to get something that is setup for gas. Not sure your going to find a good unit for $300 but who knows.

A 120volt welder with a gas kit should be good for anything Cub related. I have an older Snap-On 120volt 110amp MIG welder that I've used for all of my Cub projects except for the few things I've TIG welded. You should be able to get a good deal on a used one. To get a quality new welder you'll easily spend $500 or more.

buy the best you can afford. if it means saving for a while to get a good brand name than do it. i have a miller 175 i paid $750.00 6 years ago that gets used almost everyday.

Everything ive had to do honestly ive been able to do with my little cheapy harbor freight flux core... requires a little more work to make it real pretty but anything from the trunion to frame cracks ive been able to take care of easily even used it to fix my snow blade undercarrage without issue... its by no meansa quality machine but hey for 90 bucks im not complaining
