Sam is right! I would flush the whole system before doing anything.. I like to use diesel with a small electric fuel pump I keep around for stuff like this.

This filter is rated up to 1000 PSI I don't know what the pressure is on the return side. I doubt that you would need something this robust but here is the info.
https://www.donaldson.com/en-us/engi...emblies/hmk03/ This filter is rated for 200 PSI and it looks like it would do the job. https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydrau...ter-9-7291.axd Hope someone can let us know what the return line pressure is.

I took the filter housing off my log splitter and rigged it up to a cheapo water pump from Harbor Freight. I ran diesel fuel through it. My only concern is that the pressure wasn't high enough to clean everything out? I had to help the ram move, but cycled it 4 times. I ran hytran in it after but it hardly pushed that at all. I took the filter off and just let it dump into a pail. That helped. If there's a little diesel in there yet I don't think that will hurt? There wasn't anything in filter that I could see. Maybe I'll cut it open? I have a rebuild kit for the hyd valve coming, so I'll see what's in there when I get it apart. If I find anything at all in there, the rams and steering are coming apart!

Sam, I smell what you're steppin in!
I guess I'll see what I find inside it, and go from there. I'd have to do a little replumbing to find a spot to mount it too? It's pretty big. |

Yep you would probably need to remote mount it and have some hoses made up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
