Green wire?
Good Morning, thank you for letting me into your group!
I just recently bought my first Cub Cadet machine this week, a used XT1 LT42, and I’m very excited to use it. The mode number under the seat is 13WVA1CS009, let me know if any other info is needed. However I’ve got a small issue, I removed hood so that I could clean the inside, and about the time I finished cleaning I noticed a green wire hanging behind the air filter box. I looked to see where it was supposed to be connected to but I couldn’t find anything to insert it to. I’ve attached some photos hoping I could get some help on this. Thank you 🙏 |

First, welcome to OCC......
I can NOT find a wiring diagram for your model. With that in mind....generally speaking, a green wire is usually a ground wire.

Where does the other end of the wire end up?
Agreed. Looks like a chassis or engine ground. Does the tractor start normally? Does it shut down normally?

Another wire on the other side connects to the head lights.

I agree that it is a ground lead for the OPTIONAL oil sentry system. If you don't have oil sentry it's not used. That piece of wire is in the KOHLER section of the wire harness so you gotta look here, pages 38 and 41, items B, G, K, and V.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
