I don't like ag tires for mowing grass. I have a lot of side hill lawn and if I don't lean up hill enough a wheel will spin and immediately dig a hole. They will also leave deep tracks in soft lawn. I have a 147 with ags, and another 147 with turfs. For what I do, I will never buy another set of ags.

Still going through the internal debate on tires and I appreciate your info.

I ordered a sleeve hitch adapter from Jeff and did a quick inventory of my sleeve hitch. I also ordered the bushing from him but I will need to aquire the two bolts for the lift bar plate assembly as well as the bolt to attach the lift bar to the lift assembly or rock shaft (through the bushing).

Need to pick them up from the local hardware store. Can anyone tell me what size bolts/threads I need?

The one to hold the lift bar bushing against the lift casting is 1/2-13NC x 1-1/4" long. Get a flat washer and lock washer too.

If you are referring to the ones in the picture, they are 5/16-18 NC and probably 7/8" long when used with a lock washer.

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I would update my existing thread for my little 124. I have made some progress.

- Ordered and painted a Brinley Style Sleeve Hitch bracket
- Completed my first carb rebuild
- While waiting on parts I drained the motor and gear oil and replaced.
- Had a blown front tire so replaced with some new tri ribs (installed myself)
- Had a RR tire that wold only hold air for a day. They were some really old and
dry rotted Carlisles and my new tires came in today. Decided to pay to have to have these installed and felt it was worth the 20 minutes and $30.

Its running pretty good and I have some yard work to get working on. It will not be my primary mower but I have three trees that need to come down, a short gravel drive that needs a lot of love, aeration, seeding, etc.

I will update once I bolt them on.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
