Preble county...Awesome...been there many, many times, West Alexandria actually. I am near Youngstown.
Your new to you 1000 looks terrific. I have a 1000 that acted the same way. I changed the mounts, replaced all semi worn clutch parts and driveline parts. Engine alignment (via the iso mounts) is very important. Next time I am going to use solid mounts and use an older 3 pin driver and disregard the flex plate driver.

Welcome. For a machine made sometime in the mid 1970s it looks very good. So good that I actually felt good when I saw the two cracks in the seat. Your machine appears in near perfect condition which indicates great care was given to it during its life. Being that the exterior was kept in such great shape is also an indicator that it was kept that way in mechanical condition also. Absolutely great find.

Ahhh, the ol' gas shutoff valve. LOL Most modern engines use the solenoid to shut the gas off, so the sales & service staff probably didn't think to look.
Awesome back-story on your 1000. So glad you got it--and even less than the dealer wanted! Congrats on a very nice IH machine. Hope it serves you well. |

Very nice find
That is beautiful. Is the hour meter working? Someone showed that tractor a lot of love.
Welcome to OCC. Chris

The hour meter is functioning, so perhaps that really is the actual hours. I just have to get rid of the horrible driveline vibration so I can start enjoying it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
