Thanks everyone!! I knew you guys would get it. My wife was a bit slower to understand why anyone would take the time to fix up something so old. I have a few more pictures in my photo album and I think anyone can view them so check them out if you get time. I forgot to mention how impressed I am with this site. I looked at some of the other cub forums out there and found it difficult to find anything I was looking for. Great job!

Yes Mooner it is a 40" Brinly and I live around Harrisburg PA

Nice choice of words. I lost mine only 5 years ago. I find myself wanting to have everything he once had. Like a '69 BSA Thunderbolt, or a 1970 Chevy Pickup truck. My grandfather (my dad's dad) was the one who actually owned a 1450 - one of the main drivers for me wanting a Cub.

Ol'George...I lost my dad 23 years ago. He was a millwright by trade and could fix anything. He would spend all day, if need be, fixing a $10 toaster. He's the reason I know a little about a lot of things (usually, just enough to get myself in trouble...lol). I'd know lots more if I wasn't so stubborn and "bull-headed", as he used to say. We had an old Leader tractor (and many implements) and a Fraser rototiller when I was a kid, and about 2 acres of garden, but I just didn't appreciate things the way I should have. He had the patience to putz around all day on anything, as long as he had enough cigars for the job.

I sure wish we had a Cub back then.

Never had my dad, and lost my mom 16 years ago. Worst part is that I can fix about anything, but nobody can wait for the finished work. There is no time for fixing the fixable ...just buy a new one. I think thats why MTD is still in business.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
