Nice contrast shot,good looking cubs...Garry I would have gotten more of that 3/4 ton Avalance in the picture its a reminder to me how good my own looks when I clean it up.

That is a good picture of the week because it showes the first Cub Cadet, then next to it is a new C.C lt. Now here we have "LT v.s GT". Which is is a great show of bloodline the new C.C's have come from. I would have to bet the newer C.C is more comfortable to run and has no problem doing its job. But I would have to say also that the old Original is time proven, more heavy-duty and , sorry to say, made when a buck was worth 2 bucks. Show tractors, action tractors, original only tractors, customs and pulling tractors should be in coincerderation. We will need to stand out, and completing the requirenents of picture post is of most intrest too is important. Even if its a story behind the tractor that is most favoritable to you. What it ever is, doing your part to pass them along to the next is what it is all about, because they wont make them like they use to, and are not comming back, folks! To me, picture of the week should be a "spot-light" on a members tractor, like getting to know in detail, some what.

The story behind the tractor for "Picture of the Week" could be included. There are probably lots of interesting stories behind our little machines. But, at the same time, there may be very little story or background behind certain ones. So, I wouldn't want to leave anyone out just because the background story may not be very interesting. Most may have a background story like this: "I found this Cub Cadet xxx on Craig's list and I bought it." Not very interesting and a majority of pictures may have a similar ring to it. But it's something I would consider.

Thanks for the selection!!! Too bad I've been on vacation this past week and just now am getting to get on here.

For a little "history" or whatever....

I always wanted a CC growing up, but never knew about IH Cubs. My grandpa always said that CC was the best because of the "shaft drive". So I knew that when I could afford one I had to get one. In '07 I got a LT1045 from Home Depot, which has and still is a great little LT. I've abused it a lot, but after a year I knew that sooner or later the mix of my hilly yard and doing stuff meant for a GT would break my little LT. So for Father's Day 2009 my wife surprised me with the GT2544. Wow... I still can't believe this thing. It looks like some one at CC was listening and they beefed the specs back up some. It is a true GT. Shaft driven to a cast iron rear end, not IH rear, but cast iron, not aluminum. I've had the tractor a little over a year and I have 126 hours on it!

It was only after I got my GT2544 that I "opened pandora's box" and discovered the history of CC. My wife still shakes her head... I had to get a IH Cub. I needed "acceptance" of the older guys.

After a few months of looking I found the 'O' on ebay from a guy about 20 miles away. I actually lost the bid by $.75 but the winning bidder didn't pay. The seller contacted me and said if I wanted it, it was mine. I went the next day after work in a suit and tie and picked it up and ruined a good suit in the process! At the time I didn't really know anything about the different models. It wasn't till after the fact that I learned that the 'O' wasn't a true shaft drive. My then 4 year old son claimed it as soon as he saw it. The 'O's' name is "Horsepower". I guess that officially set off the spark. This past May I purchased a 127 from a fellow member which I have been restoring even though it was in pretty good shape.

I've learned more than I could ever dream from this site and I still don't know a 1/10 as some of you. Thanks for the selection and for the great site!!!!!

I heard, well read, some of your story before - either here or over on mtf. Thanks for sharing and thanks for expanding the story so we all could read and share in your experience.

Note to members: Maybe after a picture is selected, the owner can then add a reply post like Gary did to add his story to the picture.

Oh, I could really expand the story, but I'll save that for my memoirs!

I really have enjoyed and cherish all the knowledge I've learned in the past year or so. I've talked to several members outside of the forum and it's the kind of people you wish you lived close to or just a chance to meet. It just makes it nice to know that there are still some "real" people out there!
