Default What size and best turf tire for the optional fat 149 rear wheels?

I have the normal wheels currently with 23x8.50 Carlisle Ag tires. They look awesome, but not good in the snow and I just found out they're not good in my backyard either. I tried going up and down the steep hill with a trailer of dirt and it didn't go too well.

I picked up a pair of the optional fat rear wheels for the 149 off eBay. It looks like I can run a 23x10.50-12 on them- what's the grippiest turf tire I can get? I found Carlisle turf masters, but I was hoping for something a little more aggressive like the JD HDAP tires.

Well I found these and they're close proximity to JD HDAP tires. I'll give them a go.

Those are excellent tires, I got them for my 1450 and it was an instant upgrade to handling over the original glazed over goodyear tires. they have nice grip, not quite the softness of a winter car tire but a little gummier then normal turf tires for slip prevention

I wish they made them in the size for the original tires on my 70, I need to replace the dryrotted originals and im going to try the ag tread carlisles and see how those go.
With the narrow ag tread did you notice any marking or damage to your turf?

Oh yeah, the ags are tough on grass. I also tried to tow a cart full of dirt up my backyard hill and the tire just spun.

I'm actually shopping around at the JD X738 which is all wheel drive for my yard. The cub is still great as a hobby tractor. But my little JD LT160 isn't handling these 20 degree slopes I have.

I'll second the Carlisle All-Trails. I've got a 169 and they are great on my steep property. I have filled them with fluid and have one set of IH wheel weights. I run the weights year round out of laziness but don't need them in the summer. I do put chains on in the winter when I use the snowblower, which makes it possible to back up the slopes when turning around. They are reasonably aggressive, work in the garden unless I'm in a garden with wet clay, and don't tear up my lawn.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
