LT1045 Deck Pulley, PTO or Other Problem
I have a 2007 (?) LT1045 (Serial # 13AX11CH712) Belt # 954-04033(A). This mower was given to me used about 3 years ago. Its an excellent mower, and has been great to me in the past.
At the end of the 2018 cutting season the belt would start to come off intermittently while I was cutting the yard, and I usually cut my yard on the number 4 setting. I bought a new belt at the beginning of the 2019 cutting season. After the new belt, about the second time cutting it would come off, even at the deck set to the highest setting. At that point I replaced the tension bracket, spring and bolt hardware. It worked for about 2 more cuts and now it wont stay on at all. I have leveled the deck (using the manual as a guide) and still no better. I really don't want to spend a bunch of $$ "trying" to fix the issue, and end up I could have purchased a new mower. I am really struggling with this and I don't like to be beaten by something. |

First, welcome to OCC ..........
Next, are you using genuine Cub Cadet OEM belt(s), or aftermarket ??

Have you check "pulley alignment", in that belt travels through the pulleys straight, and not twisted, crooked, or mis-aligned ??

I've fought a PTO belt issue on my LT2180 for a couple years now, and just when I think I've got it solved, it crops back up again. Mine seems like several problems adding together to throw belts. I had a deck spindle that had noisy bearings, the deck needed to be re-set to level, one of the idler pulleys down front that turn the belt 90 degrees back to the deck was cracked at the hub. All things I've found and corrected. I'm cautiously optimistic, but not ready to declare victory just yet because I've been here before. Check and re-check everything. It could be a number of little things together. I've mowed twice since the last fix and it's still holding together. Fingers are crossed. |

Roland,
They all look aligned to me; the only thing that looks a little off is the tension/idle pulley it looks a little higher than the others, but there is no adjustments to that, its a flat faced pulley, bolted to the tension arm.

It never hurts to make sure the belt you bought from your CC dealer has the CC part number on it.

Do ALL the Pulleys and Spindles spin "freely", no binding or resistive rotation? Do ALL the Pulleys and Spindles rotate true with NO wobble ??

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
