HA! Is anything ever the way it seems at first? Looks like I need a pulley or more. The left one is about nonexistent. What's the best place for deck parts? I know my initial investment is almost nothing but I don't want to spend a whole lot on it. Good news for the 48 is that it only needs new baffles on the underside and blades. It also has underbelly rust that the 50C has mostly escaped, but it seems that the sealed up top cover of the 50C has proven to be a rust helper. Moisture is a *****. Still looks beautiful for $10.

Good luck getting those pulleys off, My 50c had the other style so all I had to do is remove the blade and the cup and push the shaft out the top. The rest was easy.
I would get some used ones on flea bay.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
