Harvest 2020
Last week, I took off work to help my brother with harvest. Monday was spent pulling the throat off the combine to replace a bad bearing and a worn sprocket on the corn head. On Tuesday, we started shelling corn since the sky was overcast and the bean stalks were a little tough. On Wednesday, the sun came out and we finished the beans that evening. Thursday was a rain day so the combine stayed in the barn. Friday and Saturday, we ran corn again and on Saturday we raked and round baled some corn stalks while we were waiting for a guy to get us a 10 cent o-ring that caused a hydraulic oil leak and had the combine down for a couple hours. It felt good to get some seat time on something larger than a Cub Cadet even if one was green. Lol. The JD 8400 is a loaner from a mechanic that’s been working on another of my brother’s tractors (JD 4755). The combine I ran is a CaseIH 1666 and I pulled the rake with a IH1486.

Great pictures, love to see farming stuff. I always marvel at Mid October harvest in that part of the country.
We had 18 degrees and snowing this morning. Harvest here is long done and the winter wheat has been in the ground for a month. Thanks for sharing . Ken
