Can I run a 2 stage blower
Could I run a 2 stage blower on my 169 successfully? Does it have the power and torque?
If so, what blower would I want? Jim |

I've heard the two stage blower's work the twin cylinders pretty hard so a 16hp single might not keep up.

Gee Tim my 1641 with a 451 mounted on the front has never had any problems with snow removal with the exception of really wet slushy snow. Only a couple of times have I had to break out the 149 with the blade.

Your 1641 might be the same hp but has more torque since it's a twin.

You can run a 2 stage with the 169. Issue will be getting the the drive set up. 169 doesn't have a 5/8" pulley on the PTO. The 2 stage needs a big belt. It's do-able, but have to make some mods. Now, if you could find a 351 blower, that would be a lot better.

I looked for a 351 blower but didn't yield any results - did you mean a 451 by any chance? If so is that then bolt and go? I'm not to good with mods lol |

Oh yeah.

Back to the 364 blower: There were two pulleys available for it. One a 5/8" pulley, and one a 1/2" pulley. They were also different OD's too to keep the speed of the impeller where it needs to be. The bad news is, the 364 blowers were the last IH designed blower, and came out late 82 series IIRC. When CCC took over, they dropped that machine and replaced it with the 450. I've not ever seen a 364 for sale in my area, but I've seen guys on here buy them, and have found them. Just not an easy find. You would probably be much ahead to just mount the thrower you have. Maybe it wasn't throwing very far due to an incorrect high idle speed on the 126?? I've got a QA42A thrower and it tosses the snow pretty far. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
