Default My new Haban deck

Picked this up recently with the 2082. Really excited to get this one up and running. Impressive decks. Found cracked welds and severally bent/cracked rear mount. Looking around I found SamMac repair info. Sam Mac - Is that short for Mac Daddy? Did yet another one of his repair suggestions. (Thanks again Sam for all you give to this site) Was easy fix. Pulleys are bad so will be replacing bearing and will be ready to mow. Oh, welds aren't the prettiest but will hold.

Lookin good. I added a gusset on the back of my deck think it will prevent it from cracking again. Did one on each side.

This is where I got my bearings.

These are sealed bearings so remember to remove the seal on the inside so that you can grease them.

I missed the gussets. Wondered what I wanted to do there. Missed taking pics, but did grind out the cracks then filled so I have a full fix of the metal. Bearings feel good so might run until winter. Here is a shot of pressing the plate straight. Some welding was outside and the wind picked up. Tig did not like that.
Back to the grinder and welder.

Sure wish I had the time to make my deck look like that! Think I will order bearings for when I do go into it. I saw wheel improvements also. So may go into that this winter as well.

Your doing a nice job on it. Considering how old these decks are and the beating that most of them got they are a pretty well designed piece. A little TLC and a few new bearings and they should be good for another 20 years. Thing will probably outlast me.

I know, old post, but curious, forgive me if dumb question. If bearings are sealed, how is grease getting to them from the grease fitting on top of shaft?

Grease exits the shaft in the center between the 2 bearings. The shaft is rifle drilled.

I get that, but if bearings are "sealed", then grease won't get into them.

Remove the seals that face inward. I also packed the bearings first. Make sure you clean out the old grease from the drilled hole in the shaft.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
