Default 44" deck fix up

Picked this one up a few weeks ago from JALLEN decent deck just needed a little TLC. It's a 44”deck that is about done now, waiting for 2 pulleys for it. Cleaned the bearings, replaced the seals, 1 bearing and 1 housing, also replaced the idler pulley bearing. Cleaned and gave it a quick rattle can paint job. It may end up under Black Jack, should be a good grass killer.

Scott

I can't answer that one for you. I do know that the 38" deck I had on my 1210 vintage 1989 had aluminum spindle housings. I should mention they are still the same as the housings on the decks on some of the 2000 series tractors.

That looks good. I have got a 42" deck for the 128 I need to do and I should do the one on the 1711, but for some reason a deck intimidates me, but redoing a whole tractor is fine. Yeah I now, go figure. LOL

Easy, I just drill out the spot welds with a 1/4" drill and split the two halves apart pop out the bad bearing and replace it then I bolt the two halves back together with 1/4" bolts. You can get the bearing from McMaster the bearing number on the box is FAG 6203.2RSR.C3.L38 The McMaster part number is 5972K44 the price is $6.02

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
