Cub cadet 125 hydro oil filter problem
So the hydro oil filter that came off my 125 is a part number 923-3014, the WIX cross reference is supposed to be a 51410 but it won’t thread onto the filter base. I took the threaded part out just to see if was doing something wrong, but I can’t get it to screw into the WIX filter. Any suggestions?

Like Hy-Tran, it's best to stick with the correct OEM filter. I don't trust the cross-references, especially with hydraulic filters. It's under $20 for the right filter from Cub Cadet, and then you know it will work.

As far as hydraulic filters go, it's usually best to get oem because there are too many varieties. Same applies to some car engines, but not most.
OEM filters don't cost much more and are sometimes cheaper. This is speaking generally, as I do work on some larger equipment. |

BS, Wix filters are probably better than OEM. Yes, I have had a Wix or 2 not want to start but eventually they did........but then again I don't use Hytran either.

Heard that others have had difficulties threading the WIX. Don't know what that's all about.
The OEM Cub filter is obviously manufactured by a well known filter company for Cub Cadet. Wonder which one it is?

I usually buy CCC ones but they're up to like $18.

I use Wix (either in that brand from F&F or NAPA gold) on pretty much everything -- 2x trucks, all sorts of (big) tractors, Cub Cadets...never had one not thread on

I just recently used that Wix filter on a customer's 1650 and the filter installed and preforms perfectly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
