Default Engine clarification:

To answer any questions, this is an 8hp K181 engine and not the original 7 hp K161. When I bought the tractor it already had the K181 in it, so I completely rebuilt the engine with all new valves, push rods, piston and rings, gaskets, seals, and custom made my own exhaust stack with flapper

Nice job sir. What paint did you use?

Also, judging by past posters from Texas our old cubs are few and far between there. Was that 70 imported? Congrats again on a very nice tractor and trailer project. I saw that it only took you 35 days to complete the 70, that’s hustling if you have a full time job too

I ended up using the “newer yellow” Majic Cub Cadet yellow from Tractor Supply (easier to get ahold of), and all the white is Farm Implement White from Rustoleum (it was an almost perfect match)

Yes, Cub Cadets in Texas are very rare. A custom Chevy C-10 shop in Austin was going through hard times, and the guy had it in the back of the shop, and I bought it from him.
I’m a small engine mechanic/fabricator (since 1995), and buy up vintage mowers, restore them, and flip them. As for now, my 9 year old son loves riding in the trailer, so I have to keep this one for a bit

I have the original mower deck, deck cradle, mule drive, front PTO, and rear 3 point lift as well, I just had no intentions of restoring those at this time.

Default Prior restoration!

Before I found and restored this Cub Cadet, I found an EXTREMELY rare 1959 Toro Pony riding mower that I restored to like new. They were only made for 2 years and only sold in the East Coast.
They are so rare that only one has sold in the past 20 years online. I will post a before and after picture.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
