Default My New Cub Cadet 800

Just picked up a well maintained 800. Hour meter works and looks to be 400 hours. Runs great. Thrilled to be the new owner.

Wow, that is a very nice lowest production Cub Cadet ever being 1 of 2,345 built. I would not do any paint work to that one and keep it original. Does it have the original starter and other 800 model only goodies? What are your plans with it? Congrats on one of the hardest units to find.

Question

Did these come with the hood side panels originally? I remember one or two of the Quietline models did not come with them.

The 800 did but the 1100 with the Busted & Scattered (B&S) engine did not have side panels.

LOL that was it! The 11hp single and 16hp twins were not their best efforts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
