Default Greetings from Stillwater OK.

Just bought a cub cadet 1000 International. Tractor runs well but I cant engage the PTO from the switch. I know there is a fuse somewhere, can someone clue me in to where the fuse is located? The tractor did not come with any side panels. Can I run the tractor without the side panels installed or will there be issues with engine cooling. thanks in advance for any help with these questions. It appears to be a really neat little tractor and I am excited to own it. Ill try to get some pictures uploaded.

Welcome to OCC........

The Fuse is located on the Dash Tower on the LH side, see image from the Owners Manual on page #5. It is item #3.

Depends......... On how hot of a day. Here in Michigan, I have run my 1450 without side panels, in the cooler part of the year, with out issue(s). IF......all your engine shrouds are in good condition and properly installed, this directs the air flow across the engine, from back to front. This is the major factor in the engine cooling. The side panels help, keep the engine "quieter" (hence the name - "Quietline"), and aesthetic purposes.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
