Hello Everyone, I just searched Cub Cadet Forum. And this is the 1st one that came so here I am. The start of what could be a great rabbit hole. Quick rundown, I just picked up a " free" 1968 124. I'll start by saying it's not going to be a restoration, it's got a rusted hood, deck has multiple holes and repairs, all the cables are rusted solid, seat is crumbles like uncooked macaroni, the gas tank and bracket are missing, and if course the drive clutches are stuck together. It's basically going to pull things around the property, and scout the woods. And I thought it could be a good winter project. I just wanted to introduce myself, and hopefully in the near future bounce some concerns and question off you fine folks.

Thank you, I've been messing with the tractor. What an amazing pc of machinery. This is exactly what they mean when they says things aren't built like they used to be.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
