Whine when p.s. moves
I have a question on an 1862 I just bought. It whines when working the power steering, no leaks, no cavitation, no trans fluid foaming, deck will lower by itself after sitting for a while. Everything is greased, filter changed. I copied and pasted a previous reply, but saw where the valves (? valves) go bad but are not available, so how do you fix this? Substitute valves, live with it???
(From a previous post) "If the hyd lift goes down its either the valve or cylinder since the pressure has to go to the valve 1st easy way to check is take hoses of cylinder and cap them if it don't go down its the valve we had some issues with Cyclops valves they go bad and from cub they are nla." |

My guess is what you hear is a relief valve partially opening

Whine is normal. If it bothers you get a set of head phones.

Headphones, lol. Thanks for the replies everyone. I did change the filter, and the fluid looked very fresh, does anyone still think it should be changed?

Could air be in the system? Can you bleed the system anywhere?

No way to bleed the system. It may be normal, can you post a video? You would have to post it on YouTube and then post the link here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
