Default Found a 682 for sale.

I found a one owner 682 for sale near me. going to look at it in the morning.
it's a 85 model. Didn't these have a 17 hp Kohler? This has a 12 hp single cyl Kohler.

What 3 point hitch do these take? will be looking for one for him.

Getting this as a housewarming gift for a good friend that just moved to Virginia. He wants a large garden.

682 is to be powered by a KT17 twin cylinder originally.

Sounds like a 1282 and someone has put a 682 hood on it.

Owners manual in for sale pics has 680 circled on the manual cover. I just noticed that. wonder if it got the wrong hood at the factory or if it was swapped over, will ask tomorrow.

Get the Factory Code off the Model/Serial Tag and that will positively tell.

It is a 680. the owners father in law had the hood replaced because of a big dent and the dealer installed the 682 hood.
I'm going to be taking care of the maintenance then taking it to my friends new house near Danville Virginia.

Thumbs up

That is a very clean unit. Great find.

The model number 144-680-100 indicated this is a 1984 model year tractor, model 680, and originally beige/yellow paint

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
