Default My 882

Brand new here but can see there are a lot of nice, knowledgable people on this site. I will hopefully be retired soon and will have more time to play with my toy tractors!! lol

I have an 882 Diesel that my father bought in the late 80's. I used it throughout the years to mow my 2 acres of lawn and it has been a workhorse for me. Started having hydro problems a couple years ago and I haven't really had the time to play with it. It's always been inside and I start it up every other month or so and let it run for a bit. I have the 50 inch deck off it, cleaned up and stored away. I am currently working on a 1955 cub and should have that project mostly done this year.

My first question for now: From reading posts, I see this is a fairly rare 1984 tractor. Does anyone here know how many were produced?

I'm sure I'll have many questions next Spring when I start the restoration on this. Here are a couple pics. Thanks, Jeff

Sorry, no information on the actual number of 782D/882 units built.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
