Default Which series of mower decks will fit my 129?

I think I'm being too limiting in my searches. I've been concentrating mostly on looking for the same triangle shape that mine has. I've been told that several series of decks would fit. I suppose as long as it is compatible with the mule drive, the shape is not that big a deal (?)

Jon....sorry...if you did I don't recall it. Failing memory unfortunately. I just checked back through your email - you only mention that there are about 9 different models of decks that will fit, but not specifically what those models are other than the 38, 44, or 50 (A series). It would be helpful to know what other models would also work. Your suggestion was to search primarily for triangle decks, but that doesn't seem to turn up too many. I looked through both recent threads and not much was mentioned about it there.

I'm pretty sure the 38, 42 and 48 inch "triangular" decks ALL work on the 129. With a standard mule drive. The 44A and 50A will work but you need the mule drive with the tilted idler pulleys as the center spindle on those decks is off center. The 44A and 50A are "rounder" than the triangular decks.

Do pay attention, the 44C and 50C decks look identical to the A series, but have a different center spindle pulley as they were made for the 82 series tractors and use a wider belt. The C series can be converted to an A deck by replacing the center spindle pulley with an A series pulley. The decks are interchangeable in all other regards.

Here's a 149 with a 50A deck and a (12hp)108 (so actually equivalent to a 128) with a 48 inch triangular deck. I think a 42 inch deck is better suited to a 108 and that's what this 108 ran for most of its life.

Ok... one more time.
The "triangle" decks don't really have a model. They are just called 38", 42" and 48" or *XX" 3 spindle rotary mower* decks, but they had different year ranges made. Minor differences between all of them, and they will interchange. (They mount the same.) There are 3 different "versions" of each, so that makes 9 different decks. You WILL NOT find them listed by a "model" so stop getting hung up on a model number.

Then there are the 38A, 44A and 50A decks. Like we already discussed, and like Frank noted, the "A" model decks will work, but don't get a "C" model. While they will interchange, you have to make some changes to the deck, and we don't want to get you confused. The "A" decks will work, but as Frank noted, you need the mule drive with the angled pulleys. If you don't have that style, don't worry, you can bend the ones on your current mule to angle towards the pulley, but it is important that you do that. Otherwise it will burn up belts. If you need a different mule drive, you can usually get them on ebay for about $25.

And because I'm kind of tired of hearing that you "just can't find one", here are 10 decks for sale on ebay that will fit your tractor. I did not look at any, other than to see that they will fit your machine. It took me longer to make this post than to find them.

That is a nice deck...unfortunately it's 6 hours away from me with no shipping option. I appreciate your taking the time to look these up - had seen a few of them. I am an eBay seller, and so judging from the prices being asked relative to what some of these look like, it's tempting to list mine (assuming I don't keep the Cub). Could probably get a nice buck for it. Of course, mine would be pick-up only. I have no interest in shipping anything as unwieldy as a mower deck.

go onto the Scranton CL site and do a "Cub Cadet" search.
You just might find an entire ready to mow outfit you like.
I did, and there were three or four that looked pretty good.
So good decks too.

Local pickup is put in most of the ads with larger pieces. If you contact seller you might be able to ask him to "for a price" skid it and take to local fastenal to ship for you.. I have done this several times with ebay sellers. Also. Make use of the make offer option. All they can do is say no.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
