If it is a 70, it's NOT a 1961. The 70 was made from 1963 to 1965.

Default Sounds like a decent package for the money

It sounds like a model "Original". Even if it is a 70 and the guy gave you the wrong date I'd say that with all the extra you get and if it runs good $600 is fair. Hope you got photos of it before you close the deal. Good luck and Merry Christmas

If the tractor is in good shape, and with all those implements, it's a great deal!

It's a fair deal for what you're getting, but I don't think it's a great deal. Problem, to me, it's 4 hours away, so you have to take the guy's word and go by the pictures. That's a long trip, just to be disappointed. As a comparison, Matt G. has a 70 that he's selling here for $375, includes deck, snow blade, and tire chains. Matt says it starts easy, runs nice, and, in my opinion, it looks better than that one.

Lots of stuff listed that isn't pictured... I would want photos of ALL the stuff before driving. Hard to tell from the pic, but I'm not so sure that plow will fit that tractor. Does it come with a 3 point lift and sleeve hitch adapter?

All good points - and it don't have a 3 point lift or sleeve adapter, the rear mounted attachments won't do you any good - for the time being. I can't really tell from the picture on that plow, so that's a good point. Like I said, 4 hours is a long way to drive, I would ask for more pictures, more info (i.e. does it have the 3 point, assist spring, sleeve hitch, etc).

Looks a little on the rough side. It looks like it's been outside for a while! I doubt that the plow in the photo will fit.

There is an old saying that will probably save you money and keep you away from trouble "When in doubt, DON'T".
Good luck

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
