Spark Plug gap.
I have two Owner's Manuals (one appears older than the other) for models K241, K301, K321, etc., engines. The newer manual specifies a spark plug gap of .035" for "battery/breakerless" systems, & the older manual specifies a gap of .025" "for gasoline." Which is correct & why the difference?

Newer breakerless and electronic systems build higher voltage, allowing for larger gap.
If you have points, run .025 , other wise go .035 if breakerless |

If you run a battery its .035 its .025 for mag.

My 1650 has a Kohler K341-71221 16hp, 12V battery, ignition coil, and points. What do I gap at? The Kohler and Cub manuals offer different gaps when compared to one another. Their gaps are as follows:
Kohler Battery/Breakerless 0.035" Magneto 0.025" Gaseous Fuel Engines 0.018" Cub Cadet 0.025"

I would trust the information from an engine manual than the tractor manual.

Agreed about trusting the engine manual over Cub Cadet's.
Out of the 3 gap choices that I shared, from the Kohler manual, would I go with "Battery/Breakerless", based on the aforementioned engine setup?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
