Help with finding out what I just bought
Hi guys, I searched the site for this but didn't find an answer. I have a cub and the tag on the side says model number:148630100, the serial number is 768019 and on a separate tag MFG date of I167G. The frame is wider in the front than the 105 I got with it. Any help on where to find this information would be great.
Thanks, Dan |

Post a picture of the tractor. That doesn’t look like a Cub model number. At least not an older one.

Thinking the same David, tractor data shows it was built in 1988.

Thanks guys, I did some more digging and came up with the model and the date. So it looks like out of the three cubs I just got I have a narrow frame 105 with no motor, a 1211 wide frame with a 12 hp motor but not sure if it is correct for this tractor and a 1650 that looks untouched and complete. Looks like I will be in search of a 10hp motor for the 105.
I am very new to vintage cubs with lots to learn but am looking forward to working on these old cubs. Dan |

The 12hp is correct for the 1211. I have one and it's a great tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
