Default Picked up my First NF - 127

A 127 w/ deck and lots of spare parts followed me home Tuesday. New fuel line, cleaned the points, and it started right up. More to come...

Cool, if you never worked on the NF you will find times to scratch
the head and wonder why they made things you can't get to.
Personally I don't mind and love the NF tractors. Come to think of
it I kinda like all of em. Congrats on the new ride.

Thank you. Turns out it is a 1971. It does look a lot tighter than the frame on the 82 series, but no sidepanels is a plus.

I have always had a liking to the 1x6/7 Series. I have it in my head that a 147 would be nice to have.

Nice score.

Thanks Roland. Too bad there isn't a 167 - but 2 china carbs did show up for the 1650 projects.

This will probably just putz around. Not sure I even want to put the deck on it. Maybe.

Pressure washed it well last night and looked over the wiring. New harn, hooked up correctly, but no charge. Guess I'll look into that then hooking up the lights. I assume the hole in the dash is for a separate light SW on these - there's an extra blue wire in the harn that comes out over by the lights.

Adding pictures. It also came with a spare engine, that I assume was a replacement or out of something else given the black paint.

Here's the spare engine's tag. Complete with fuel tank, brkt, and s/g.

That's a beauty. I have found that spare engines no matter the condition
are worth a lot. All my NF have that same look of battery acid running
down the sides. How does that happen?

Some guy painted this with a brush. From what I can tell, that is unpainted primer showing. I was considering trying to touch it up without it looking like trash - maybe the last guy did that from the acid?

Not a huge fan of the wide front tires, tho them and the wheels are new.

Changed the oil last night; need to find a battery hold down and light switch then investigate why it isn't charging.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
