Default Cub Cadet 345 Fan Assist Bagger

Hello all, Been a while. To refresh, got a 2182 Cyclops 145-743-100 w/a high SN: 878134. (Nice machine). Mow about 2 acres with a Cub Cadet GT 54” 324-190-100. Ended up, with "your" help, getting a Cub Cadet 345 190-345-100 Bagger. When I bought it, the guy sold the deck flaps with the tractor. These little pieces of metal w/rubber attached to them are way, way overpriced and it works without them.
The other day, I was able to get the right hand one for 37 (usually over 100). Now that I have received it, I don't see where to put it. I can't even find a picture of it installed, except for the diagram over at Parts Tree. Part# 603-0626 (Superseded to 903-0626). It's description is Brkt. Assy-w/Flapp RH 54"
My basic problem is during the fall, got leaves. But, no matter how slow or high I mow, a good part of the leaves get spit out from underneath the front right of the deck. I though these "flaps" would help that.
Does anyone know where this right assembly w/flap goes? Looks like I'm gonna need to drill holes.
Thank in advance,
Vertigo1

I have the same issue with my 345 on a 3k machine. I now suck up leaves with the deck up and then I lower the deck and go back over to suck up the smaller pieces. Where did you find the flap assembly at?

I've been through 3 impellers hitting hidden rocks and chuncks of wood along with normal wear in about 8 years of use. Here is what they look like after 2 or 3 mowing seasons.

Being that Cub Cadet is such an awesome company that only makes throw away belt drive lawn mowers(for the most part) they no longer offer the replacement impeller.
I have not tried this one yet but I think it will work. Atta boy Deere!

I decided to go out on a limb and make one myself. I have about 8-10 hours of run time on it and so far it works awesome. I cut the 1/4" pieces out with my plasma cutter and weighed each blade to try and keep it as balanced as possible. I then tack welded the blades for proper fit and spacing and then welded them in place. More welds were added after this pic. I did slow the impeller speed down because originally it was spinning it at about 4800rpm at full throttle. I installed a larger sheave on the driven shaft and it runs at around 2800 rpm now.

I ran out of time this fall but I need to make a new housing out of steel. My old housing has plenty of duct tape on it to hold it together.

I collect leaves with my 1864 with either the 48" or 54" mower deck. I use a TracVac tow behind with a 5 horsepower blower. The amount of leaves, pine needles will occasionally clog the 6" hose if I go too fast. Both decks will blow some leaves out the front. I usually collect at a indicated 4". If leaves are too deep, the front of the deck will plow the leaves.

Suction with the TracVac blower is amazing. I remove the deck discharge chute at times to hand rake leaves into the chute connected to the blower. It will suck loose dry leaves as fast as I can hand rake.

Default Hi Oak

I found only the right side flap on Ebay. A guy was clearing stock and it was the last one. 37 bucks was the only reason I got it, but even though I have the manual, it doesn't look like it will fit on the 54" 324 deck I'm using. Need to drill some holes, I think. It's not quite long enough to reach the right-side front center roller assembly bolt.
That's a pretty hefty impeller you've got there, Oak. I've got a end chip out of one of the blades, but over all, it's doing OK. But I'm sure it's only as matter of time before I'll need another one. I pickup sticks before mowing. It's good exercise for me, but the leaves hide a lot.

Take care,
Vertigo1

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
