Hydrostatic drive max speed
i have an 1810 GT and have been mowing with it for a while now then the snow came and I didn't want to one arm the 450 blower so I bought an 1812. both of these drive the same and are open differentials. I just picked up an 1811 for my dad to use to clear snow. After taking the engine out and cleaning the cooling fins and new fuel pump etc I started it the other day. I was surprised when I started driving it for the first time and the thing was like a rocket. I went to a part of my yard where I can get it stuck and on this 1811 it pushed right though because both tires were spinning and not doing the standard one wheel peel. I suspect the differential is welded it would also explain the heavier steering input required to turn but what else could the previous owner have changed to achieve this speed because it is noticeably faster in forward and reverse.
bottom line why is this thing lightning fast and how can I duplicate it |

Can you check the speed with your phone so we can understand the difference in speed? You should be able to get a speedometer app.

I've had a few cubs, mostly cyclops. I don't think any of them were exactly the same speed.
The last 1864 i had gps'd at 11mph forward and 5 in reverse. No idea why, i couldn't find anything not stock about it. I recently sold it and i miss it. My 2084 gps 9-10 in forward 5 in reverse. I can tell you the speed definitely helps in some situations.

Factory ground speed spec at 3600RPM engine speed was 8.5 MPH forward and 3 MPH in reverse. Obviously tire diameter will affect this some.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
