Default Haban 60" deck belt question

I just got this deck not too long ago and it's in really good condition, I greased the spindles up and mounted the deck on my 1912 and mowed with it. It works great... until the deck belt exploded. I mean exploded, not just tore, like came apart like those tractor trailer tires on the highway. So I went to the intertubes to research what size belt I need, and came up with a 954-3052 which is a 21/32x114" belt. I've also seen it referred to as a B111K and 5LK1140 (which is 5/8"). I can hear the grass growing because it's been so dry and then we got like 8" of rain from tropical monsoons that have passed close by. The replacement came today, but it will NOT fit. I've checked and re-checked the belt routing, but I cannot get it on the pulleys. It's like it's about 4" too short. It's stamped right on the side B111K and 5LK1140. I always seem to have this problem with belts, and it's annoying. I'm looking at pictures of these decks online and it looks like the idler pulley arm goes much closer to the center pulley than mine does at full compression. I don't understand what's the problem with it. I know there are two different Haban decks, a 325 and 374, but it looks like both call for the same deck belt size. Nobody around here stocks belts over 5/8x100, so I can't just size it up and try a bigger belt. Any ideas? This has got my whiskers all twisted up.

I already looked at those references, the only thing I can figure is the belt is stamped wrong at this point which I find kind of hard to believe.

By all means measure it. Hard to believe maybe, but it has happened to me.

I bought a brand new belt from a Cub Cadet dealer, took it home and it would not fit. I tried everything I could think of. It was a Cub Cadet brand belt, bought from a long time, reliable dealer, and it had the right numbers on it, it couldn't be the wrong belt, or so I thought.

In desperation I called the dealer and asked if they could measure my new belt. They said bring it in, so I did. The parts manager found it was 6 inches shorter than all the other belts in stock that had the same number on it.

They gave me another belt and that one fit perfectly.

It sounds crazy, but it has happened. And boy will it screw with your head until you get it figured out.

Measures 113.5” on the outside. I’d say there’s a .5” margin of error on that measurement so it probably is 114”

I'm gonna bet that your not getting the tensioner pully moved far enough to get the belt on. When I had Haban decks I used a 3' pry bar to get the pulley back far enough to get the belt on.

I thought that too, but I took the whole spring off and put the belt on to see where it would fit and I still could hardly get it on. Somethings a miss here and I don’t know what. I have a 1/2” belt that’s a little too long here so I shimmed the spring 2” and put it on there to get some grass mowed. It’s working that way for now. I have the 50C for it but it’s off and then I’d have to swap out the hanger and everything. And it’s really hot outside. So I found a workable solution for now. I’ll have to measure that belt that’s on it now and see how long that is. It’s about as too long as the one I bought is too short. I have three mowers here and each one has issues right now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
