Angry Kohler rocker arm issues

I have a Cub I bought in 2014. It has 210 hours and the rocker assembly in both cylinders went bad. Has anyone else had this problem. Is this something common to Kohler 2 cylinder horizontal shaft engines? I bought w Cub with the Kohler because Kohler is supposed to be the best. Did I make a big mistake?

What model tractor??
"Cub Cadet with a two cylinder motor" isn't very specific...

Yes, some of the Kohler engines had rocker issues. Usually you fix them and it isn't an issue anymore. They are still a good engine. I will say, usually rockers make noise when they start to get loose. How long did you run it with it clattering?

What Kohler engine does it have? The Kohler commands are great engines but the Kohler courage are a POS and known to have multiple issue including the valves.

In order to answer your question we need to know what model tractor you have and what engine it has.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
