Default Frequent stalling

I'm trying to resurrect my 147 after moving out to the country. For the last few weeks it's been running for about 10 minutes, then stalling out. It basically has to rest for a while before starting it again with the same results. Today I poured some seafoam in it and it ran for 30 min. It won't start, but I bet it will in another half hour or so. I can't ever get it to idle very slow, even after following the carb adjustment suggestions. The guy that sold it to me is trying to make it right. He sold it to me through ebay and the ad said it ran well but a little rough. He luckily lives about 40 min away and he's been back to my house three times. He's looking for a carb for me he says and is planning on coming back next week.

The electrical system is fine. He has replaced the coil, condenser, and spark plug.

He's replaced the piston and rod and the valves were fine. I've cleaned the gas tank. There's nice clean fuel in the glass bowl. Now I'm planning on taking the carb off and rebuilding it. Dipping the carb in parts cleaner. I find it hard to believe it would run for 30 min and then just die. I've also cleaned the gas cap.

Often while it runs, it coughs every 30 seconds and stays running. It also seems to run rather hot. But I attribute that to the fact that I ca't run it at lower speeds. It has to run at full throttle.

What's your take?

Does fuel flow freely from the line after the sediment bowl? Before the sediment bowl? If it does not have the sediment bowl, check the fuel flow from tank.

Well apparently, it's not flowing from the tank freely... time to clean the tank and screen again.

I had a similar problem with my 147 a while ago. I cleaned the tank and sediment bowl, and it has been fine ever since.

I decided to take the carb off and rebuild it while I'm at it. I can't get the center main jet pin out... not enough there for a screwdriver to grab hold. i hope this isn't going to be a problem.

For removing carb seats I found a handy tool that may already be in your pocket. I had an old key, one of those square handled ones like fit alarm systems, toolboxes, etc. Anyway, it fit the screwdriver slot perfect. I was able to grip it with a pair of small vise grips and remove/install the seat without any trouble

You can't get the main jet needle out? Or the emulsion tube/main jet that screws in from the bottom?

The one that screws in from the bottom. and i lost the dang screen that filters the gas out of the gas tank now. I feel stupid...

The one in the sediment bowl?
You can get (buy) just the screen. Napa carries them. My local store even keeps them in stock. Or at least the last time I needed one they had it in stock....
