Roy, as atated, you are reading the diagram incorrectly. The key switch supplies all power to the related switches. The seat switch is used ONLY when the PTO is in the ON position. No other time.
Do not use "windshield silicone". The stuff for glueing windshields in is acrylic....and once it sets up, your done. You will never get that plug off again. I suggest at very least buying a $20 tarp at Walmart. Don't use silicone. |

Wow, I'm really sorry you had to go through all that with your wife.
Good luck with the Cub. You'll find it. This is the best place for help!

My grandfather may have rewired some stuff, but my first Cub experience was on an 1811 and when my 50# a$$ left the seat all it did was shut the PTO off. The tractor kept moving.

The later MTD built '82 series, and on, had a PTO relay. The safety system was no longer hooked to the engine ignition. Just the PTO. Later though, they went back to the ignition style safety switches. (Not sure when they changed back. You know the machines though.... the ones you have to set the brake on before dismounting or they shut off. ) Guess too many people were falling off the machine and it would keep going.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
