this has been something that I've been searching for an answer to for pulling. I shim the spiders, there's a point you can go to and still have a differential and they tend to hold longer before you eventually 1 wheel. for several years I've been looking at everything from a posi to limited slip to an air locker. then I start to think about traction control . in a way some form of air locker would be nice to get off the starting line and then be able to release it . someday I'll finally decide which way to go

Don, why not put steering brakes on it like the "big boys" do?

I said pullers, but you can't feel any binding while turning. i saw one break free last pull. Any upset of the apple cart at the end of a pull (high wheelie,leaning wrong,soft hole) will break one free. Believe me i know posi, i've got a welded chrysler in one. You can't turn it around in a barnyard, turns better going backward. Mike

I'd like to hear more of this line of thought if someone has experience to lend. I'm totally OK with smoking shims every year or two for "posi". I'm asking from the regular GT owner perspective and I know what the difference between a welded spider, a posi, a mechanical locker (air or other wise), and open is since I own one of all in the automotive world. Feel free to contrast/compare.
