Default Kohler CH22S Smokes on Start up

My 3206's engine only smokes on start up, the longer it sits, the more it smokes when started. After that, no white smoke at all.

Does this most likely mean the valve stem seals need to be replaced ?

You said white smoke, right? Oil some is more a blueish color.

You know, I started to write "blue/white smoke" but then I thought, any whitish smoke is to be considered caused by oil. At least as far as I know. So yes, it's sorta blueish/white smoke.

After posting here, I then saw the Kohler engines sub forum. Guess I should have placed it there.

Bad head gasket, valve seals or even worn out rings can cause oil smoke. You will just have to take the engine apart and see what you find. Only way to diagnose that issue.

See if it fouls one spark plug more than the other. Mike

Right, I had just put in new plugs and have only run it a couple hours so hopefully they will show something.

Thanks Mike !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
