Default Carburetor issues, need advice for this weekend

Hello everyone:

I’m trying to get a old 1967 International Harvester Cub Cadet 102 up and running again at my cabin on my family’s property. It has been sitting for about 10 or so years and I have already done a oil change and emptying out the old gas. The problem I seem to be having is the carburetor won’t send fuel to the engine even though I put new fule in the tank. This weekend I plan on putting new gaskets on the carburetor to see if that will help but I’m not sure what else to do if you have any advise that would be helpful.

Take the carb apart and put a kit in it. Rebuild as necessary. Unless you can get lucky and find one locally, you won't get a carb kit by Saturday.

No.... you don't understand. Carb cleaner isn't a "fix in a can".
You have to take the carb COMPLETELY apart to get all the dried up crap out of the passages. You need to pull the emulsion tube out. You need to take the needle valve base out. You have to pull all the adjusting screws out. Then you have to make sure all the passages are free and clear. You will tear up the bowl gasket when you remove it. Even if you don't, it won't ever seal up again. It would be a complete waste of your time to disassemble the carb and try and "fix" it, just to put it back on and try it..... then order a kit, and do it all over again next weekend. Go order a kit, go take the carb off and soak in a a dip bucket of cleaner, take the time to do it right, and be done. If this sounds too time consuming, then just order a new carb from China for $35 and put it on.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
