Hello everyone. I've always been into garden tractors versus lawn tractors. I have 3 JD 317, one which is complete with oem JD 3 point and 2 in various states of completion. Accumulated 2 craftsman GT6000, a Sears SS12, and a custom7. Then I couldn't pass up a Wheelhorse 310-8. Luckily all of my purchases have been extremely reasonable. I recently picked up my first Cub. It's an 1811, came with original 3 point and rusted out 44" deck. Seller was asking $130 so I snapped it up. At time of pickup it didn't run and had to be pushed onto my truck. I cleaned out the gas tank and carb, replaced the plugs and the magnum 18 fired right up. It's only showing 535 hours. I plan on frequenting this site so please don't hold my other tractors against me. I figure all garden tractors should stick together.

Thanks. Here are some pics. Got it running but had to replace both hydro valves. Then I picked up a set of 26" Ags for $50 and a pretty good deck for $100.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
