Default 48 inch mower deck cut leaving strip

Greetings, I have a GT 2186 48" cut. It's leaving a strip on the left hand side. I've put on brand new blades and cleaned off top of the deck. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome,
Standard questions without judgement.

Blades correctly installed? Not upside down? Correct length blades? Spindle blade nut tight locking blade to spindle?

Deck baffles in place and not bent or clogged with debris?

Cutting wet tall grass/weeds?

Post deck pictures, maybe the experts will see something amiss.

Another couple things to check out would be the deck being level.
If you are using the wheels to level deck to the ground make sure
they are where they ought to be. If you use the deck hangers to level
to the ground make sure something didn't change in the hangers.

Is this the first time this has happened? Just since you changed blades.
Also make sure tire pressures are all the same. In my experience it
takes very little difference side to side to make a huge difference on the ground.

I bought it used and it did it . Grass is dry. Blades on correctly. When I removed deck to clean it. I removed belt and all spindles move freely. I just tried mowing on lowest settings and it still does it. Underside of deck is clean. I need to find a picture of the underside to see if maybe previous owener bent something and removed it.

This is a FWIW.

I have a number of 48"-54" mower decks. All cut nice and smooth with no streaks or uneveness, except one.

That "one" is a 48" deck that I installed a CC mulching kit on with the low lift blades. It leaves streaks and cuts unevenly now but it really does a number on the leaves.

I'm not saying the mulch kit caused the problem. I'm just sayin...........

It may be the low lift blades that's in that kit. Don't know.

Look at your deck and see if it has a plug in the discharge chute.

Set the deck level from the blade tips not anything else , side to side first then front to back with the front 1/8 to 1/4 inch lower than the back

I have the same exact setup. My 48" does excellent. I would guess the missing baffle would cause that result. My cut quality changes if I allow grass to build up under the deck. Keep it clean and add the baffle and I'm guessing you'll be happier with the cut.

Just saw this.

A baffle from a Cyclops 48" deck will fit under that deck in addition to the one listed for your tractor.

They're not cheap

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
