Default Adding Headlights to my 1440

The previous owner of my 1440 removed the headlights. He said he hit the tractor in the area of the lights and broke the lens and lights. So he took them out, and cut the wiring off. I want to add lights now. Thanks to Roland Bedell I can see that my headlight wire is blue. I found the blue wire cut off, and a green one with it. From the diagram I am assuming the green is a ground wire. If there is someone who has knowledge of this, I would appreciate it. I would think I can wire up new lights across the old cut off blue and green.

The lights I am planning to add are 55 watt halogens. Am I safe adding these lights to the electrical system?

Thanks for the help.

Check out the head light setup from XTREMEMOTORWORKS

Cyclops Headlight Conversion CC-50-100 $89.00
Get rid of the cyclops look on your tractor. Upgrade kit comes with lights and plate and is a direct hookup and replacement to the original light setup. No drilling, cutting required. Easy to convert back to original OEM if needed.

As far as the wireing the blue is the 12V feed for the lights and the green is the ground.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
