New to the Forum First Time owner of a CC1450
Hello Everyone:
I am a new-be that just got me first Cub 1450 Serial #2050660U655951. I have no experience with this piece of equipment however I have done other restorations (off-frame) on different vehicles in the past. There are a few modifications I would like to add as a double spool for angle snow plow & (not sure yet which is better for operation of a back blade) a sleeve hitch adapter or a 3 point hitch for back blade operation. My current question is, I have a 38C Mower Deck Serial # 0320022U130286 (probably not the original deck for this unit but it works for me. A larger 44 deck would not fit through my yard gate. I am wondering if it is advisable to install a speedup pulley on the deck to get more tip speed on the blades (I know this has been discussed before and I have researched and read many posts which is very confusing for the different options people have on that subject). Currently, the deck has a center double pulley that measures OD of 6.25 inches on the top & lower pulley 7.50” . My question is comparing my Troy Bilt mower deck it appears that there is a tremendous reduction in blade speed on the 1450 comparing the two decks. Will changing the pulley on the 38C to the IH-126393 4.50” pulley improve significantly the blade seed that will match the Troy Bilt Mower Deck? Unfortunately, I am not the knowledgeable in pulley gearing, with these cub cadet tractors. I am hoping that someone on the forum with more understanding of these units can advise the best route to take. Thank you for any and all assistance, Bob

Welcome to OCC!
I think the engineers got it right when they designed decks and blade speed "just my opinion" however changing pulley size will certainly change the speed.

Way too purdy to use. Dat be a decoration in the family room sho nuff! ya need a worker in it's overhauls for the dirty stuff. Nope, no mower decks or dool spool hi drulicks for winner chores in da sno'

Yes, I agree the engineers did a great job designing theses tractors. The speed of the mower deck is not a big deal and it actually cuts well. I am just trying to tweak it a little for better operation.
My main objective to install a rear Middle Buster & Back Blade mount. I am not sure which mount would give me more operational options a 3 point hitch or a sleeve hitch next spring. I am also researching the addition of a 2 spool valve for the Snow Plow that came with the unit. I'd like to add a hydraulic angle modification to it. This is all new to me and I understand there will be a learning curve to this tractor. Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate everyone's assistance.....

Some folks obtain the dual spool off John Deere garden tractors.
More plentiful and usually less cost, of course the actuating linkage need be obtained from Cub or build it yourself.  And it needs plumbed, but you knew that.

There is a bit more involved than just "adding a dual spool valve" to gain the front outlets for an angle blade.
Best to remove the engine for this procedure assuming you can acquire all the needed parts for the conversion. Check the parts look up diagrams for more explicit info as to what is needed.

Yes, Thank you, I have the John Deere valve already, and many photos of how to fab a mount. I can weld it together and drill out the holes on the plow hardware. I'm just not exactly sure of which DA Cylinder I will need yet. I looked at a cylinder on Surplus Center, 1.5x8x.75 DA Hydraulic Cylinder ITEM NUMBER: 9-4410-08.
Thank you, guys I know this will be more involved than it looks. Modding the hydro lines & mounting the quick lease plugs are going to be a PIA, along with the fabbing of the 2nd handle. I' ll have all winter to complete this project until next spring.
